The ACC On-line platform (operating system and application) hosted at Revera using Datacom developed application software (including SharePoint) is end of life and currently out of support. It’s Windows 2003 server (and support) is due to expire in two months, at which time no more security patches would be released. A recent security test (released Jan 2015) raised a number of vulnerabilities for ACC’s attention.
In response to these vulnerabilities, the Manager of Infrastructure & Operations requested an upgrade cost, which was estimated at between $1 - 1.8 million. It was deemed imprudent to incur these costs given that the scope of SOF is intended to deliver a new ACC portal. However, to address the current vulnerabilities and risks to the platform, it was considered the appropriate tactical approach is to secure it with an externally hosted and managed WAF.
