Overview

Health New Zealand invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to submit a tender for the Rotorua Hospital Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) Facility Upgrade.

This opportunity was previously signalled through a Future Procurement Opportunity notice and now progresses to the formal Request for Tender stage. The project comprises building, refurbishment, and associated services works to improve and enhance the existing SCBU facilities at Rotorua Hospital. Health New Zealand is seeking a suitably experienced contractor to provide a complete turnkey delivery solution, including the coordination and management of all required construction activities and specialist services. The successful contractor will be required to deliver the works within an operational healthcare environment and demonstrate experience undertaking construction projects in live clinical or hospital settings.

Health New Zealand is seeking a contractor with the capability, resources, and proven track record to safely deliver the works while minimising disruption to hospital operations and maintaining appropriate health, safety, and infection prevention and control standards. Interested respondents should refer to the tender documentation for the full scope, requirements, evaluation criteria, and procurement conditions.

Site visits will not be available during the tender period due to the operational nature of the SCBU and the presence of patients within the facility; however, respondents are encouraged to attend the online briefing session, which will be held via Microsoft Teams at 10:00am on 17 August 2026 and will provide an opportunity to discuss the project scope, constraints, and tender requirements. Registration guidance is within the tender package.
