The Contract Works are for the construction of a Shared Path in Kaitaia from the current termination of the Te Hiku Walking Track along the Awanui River connecting to the existing footpath at Church Road replacing the footpath on the existing alignment to the pram ramp crossing at the entrance to the Te Ahu Carpark on South Road (SH1). From this point the existing footpath will be widened to 2.2m from the side of the Te Ahu Centre to the Pram Crossing at the Te Ahu Carpark Entrance. From the other side of the Carpark Entrance the Shared Path will be new Construction along South Road connecting into the Te Hiku Sports Hub along the Western side of the Netball Courts.
A Boardwalk for 70m of the footpath alignment along South Road is being tendered at the same time as this Tender for the Shared Path. The Boardwalk is indicated on the Construction Drawing Set issued and tie-in details are provided. However, the successful Tenderer for the Shared Path shall be required to consult with the successful Tenderer for the Boardwalk to ensure a smooth transition is achieved from Shared Path to Boardwalk.
