Overview

Wellington water on behalf of Hutt city and Upper Hutt city councils are undertaking seismic improvements on the Seaview WWTP. Ground improvement works and structural augmentations are to be carried out on the existing pumping station building and milliscreen treatment plant building to achieve full IL4 Serviceability Limit State Target. The structural design is a retrofit into the existing WWTP; the works are to be carried out in accordance with all regulatory requirements and as detailed, specified and, designed.

Ground improvements will be made under both buildings. The ground improvement contract has commenced, the contractor is mobilised on site with completion programmed for end of June 2019. The structural contractor will be required to liaise with the ground improvement contractor and the treatment plant operator throughout the duration of the contract works.

Scope of structural works for both buildings include:

- Anchor extension piles with associated pile caps
- Removal of block walls and replacement with reinforced concrete.
- Structural augmentation through the installation of various structural steel members.

Client councils intend to complete the structural works by June 30 2019. Contractor to comment on the feasibility of this deadline.
