This RFT requires pump renewal, associated pipe work, and seismic upgrades for the Rhine Street Water Pumping Station.
Rhine Street Water Pump Station (PS) is a key Wellington Water Limited (Wellington Water) asset that supplies the Frobisher St Reservoir.
The proposed works include:
- Replacing the existing pumps with new Grundfos CR Series. These pumps have a 30 year design life. Throughout physical works, the water supply must be maintained. Temporary pumping will be required.
- Replacing pipework associated with the new pumps with schedule 40, 316L stainless steel to withstand anticipated seismic loads.
- Install Flex-tend seismic joints outside the pump station building on both the suction and discharge lines.
- Construct a structural concrete diaphragm in the roof of the PS building to comply with Importance Level 4 (IL4) earthquake loadings and a 50 year design life.
