Overview

The Wellington Regional Stadium Trust (WRST) invites qualified Respondents to submit proposals for building works to improve the resilience of the Stadium’s flooring.

WRST is a Charitable Trust, incorporated by the Wellington City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council in 1997. It is the owner and operator of Sky Stadium, a 34,500 seat multi-purpose entertainment venue which is one of the most iconic venues in the Wellington and New Zealand sporting landscape. Sky Stadium is predominantly used for sporting fixtures for various codes, but also caters for concerts, entertainment and cultural events, exhibitions, product launches etc. The venue hosts around half a million patrons each year.
Most events have attendances of around 10,000 and 20,000, however for two or three events a year (All Blacks test matches and concerts) the Stadium will sell-out.

Following lessons learnt from the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake, the Trust has initiated several projects to enhance the Stadium’s seismic resilience. Our emphasis is now on improving the seismic performance of the Stadium’s flooring systems by retrofitting secondary supports and improving diaphragm action. An NBS rating is not targeted; rather, the focus is on improving the seismic resilience of the structure.

This is an open, competitive process. Take time to read and understand the RFP and technical documents provided.

The proposed timetable is:

• Request for Proposal Document Issued Monday, 18 December 2023
• Proposal Submission Deadline Friday, 16 February 2024
• Evaluation Period Ends Friday, 8 March 2024
• Vendor Selection and Contract Negotiations Friday, 29 March 2024
