The Whanganui District Health Board (WDHB) seeks to re-roof the Te Kopae (the Community Mental Health & Addiction services building) building. The existing fiber cement roofing and soffit lining contain asbestos, which requires specialist containment and removal.
We intend to post the Request for Tenders on the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS), later in November.
The roof to Te Kopae (the Community Mental Health & Addiction services building) needs to be replaced. Te Kopae is located on the Whanganui Hospital campus at 100 Heads Rd, Wanganui.
The work will include
• removing asbestos prior to other demolition
• demolishing (partial) the existing roof on the building
• reinstating building structures as required
• removing other materials
• reinstating the roof and related structures
• supplying and fixing:
James Hardie® products to the underside of exterior soffits, verges, and eaves
Taranaki Steelformers profiled roofing complete with accessories
Metalcraft Roofing rainwater disposal systems including gutters fascias and downpipes
• painting the roof
What’s important to us?
The successful Respondent, or their proposed demolition and asbestos removal subcontractor, will be required to comply in all respects with the Asbestos Removal requirements specified in the RFT (to come). Those requirements will include:
• holding a Licensed Asbestos Removal Specialist under the WorkSafe requirements related to the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016,
• being is a current member of the NZDAA
• being able to carry out asbestos removal under the supervision of a named, suitably experienced person (named on the licence), using only workers trained for this work
• ensuring relevant workers hold an appropriate certificate and will carry out the work under a PCBU with the appropriate licence for the class of work involved, to the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 and WorkSafe requirements
• providing an independent licensed Asbestos Assessor or equivalent under the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016, for Class A and Class B work
