What we need
This ROI is issued by Westland District Council, referred to below as “WDC”, “we” or “us”. The Hokitika Airport Resilience Project (HARP) aims to increase the overall resilience of the airport by improving the airports’ ability to support regional airline aircraft at higher weights and passenger loadings in a wider range of weather conditions and during and post major natural hazard events – such as the effects of the anticipated Alpine Fault rupture (AF8). In doing this, WDC hopes to improve and protect the runways assets, including the Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) system and be in a position to provide AGL services without the need for Grid tied or Generator supported AGL systems.
What’s important to us?
• Local presence in New Zealand - Including the ability to respond within 24hrs for servicing.
• Flexibility of installation and maintenance - Being somewhat isolated on the West Coast, means a
level of self-adjustment and maintenance being able to be completed by Airport Staff will be of
benefit.
• Resilience – The core purpose of HARP is to improve resilience of the Airport, we want assurance that
in the event of natural disasters and other events, the Airport’s AGL system will be protected and
continue to function without dependence of network systems.
• We have a preference for a solar system to be proposed over cabled AGL, but welcome proposals for
all systems.
