Kerbside Waste and Recycling Collection Services

Wellington City Council (WCC) anticipates undertaking a procurement process for the delivery of kerbside waste and recycling collection services across Wellington City.
This procurement is expected to replace existing contracts due to expire from June 2028 onwards and represents a significant long-term service opportunity.
Indicative procurement timeline:

Supplier briefing: July 2026 (completed)
Request for Proposal (RFP): Timing currently under review
Service commencement: From July 2028 (aligned with current contract expiries)

Following supplier engagement and ongoing procurement planning activities, the procurement timeline has changed from that originally indicated. The procurement remains active.
