Wellington City Council (Council) is seeking information from the market on potential digital solutions that would celebrate narratives / pūrākau important to mana whenua.

Council's digital content includes information about the histories of Pōneke and Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Most of these stories are not from a Māori viewpoint. We are seeking to reset the balance and celebrate more narratives / pūrākau important to mana whenua.

The information on our website/s about the history of Wellington is popular with Wellington residents and also visitors from within Aotearoa, and beyond. We want any new content created to be popular with, and reach, a broad range of people. This includes residents, non-residents, Māori and non-Māori.

If Council decide to go to market following this information gathering exercise, we will be seeking innovative approaches that honour and amplify mana whenua narratives through engaging and accessible digital experiences.
