Removal of RBNZ temporary studio

Wellington City Council is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) to remove the temporary dance studio located on the Michael Fowler Centre carpark. The studio was built in 2019 as a temporary space for the Royal New Zealand Ballet while the St James Theatre was being earthquake strengthened. This notice is linked to the advertisement in the Dominion Post that was first posted on 18 November 2022.

We are seeking expressions of interest from organisations to purchase and remove:
• The studio building.
• The foundation slab.
• Any other temporary objects, structures and items that have been constructed/installed in the studio (this excludes the toilet/shower block adjacent to the main building). This includes building services/utilities disconnections/ capping.

The deconstruction, removal, and any future reinstatement or disposal of the studio and the associated costs will be the responsibility of the organisation who is selected by the Council.

Briefings will be provided to interested parties from Monday 21 November to those parties that demonstrate they are able to meet the pre-conditions below:
• Remove the building(s) safely by 24 April 2023.
• Cover the costs of the removal.
• Responses received on time.

The building and services plans are attached to this notice. We will hold site visits for interested parties who met the preconditions outlined above.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 12 noon, Friday 16 December 2022. Late applications will not be accepted.

Following the review of compliant responses, the preferred organisation will be notified in early January. The contract is expected to commence on 30 January 2023 and be completed by 24 April 2023.
