Overview

Wellington City Council is intending to establish a programme to collect, manage and analyse information on travel patterns across Wellington. We are seeking the right Supplier to deliver a smart city monitoring system to collect meaningful data and enable us to better inform our planning and decisions to help make Wellington a better place to work, live and play.

We are seeking a supplier that can provide a turnkey (hardware and software) solution to count and classify micro-mobility traffic such as (but not limited to) bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, and pedestrians; is appropriate for the anticipated modes and volumes; and has experience in identifying the best areas to monitor to achieve the best combination of coverage and affordability.

The solution will initially be implemented across a base monitoring area. We envisage that the solution may be expanded to a wider coverage area in future, however, please note that there is no guarantee that the preferred Supplier will be awarded this opportunity.

We also intend to share this data with partner organisations such as Waka Kotahi, Greater Wellington Regional Council and make it available on open data portals.
