Overview

This RFP relates to the purchase of professional services. The key outcomes that we want to achieve is an Open Space Investment and Acquisition Plan to provide a clear guide for future planning, prioritisation, and investment in the open space network to ensure it is of the quality, quantity and accessibility required to meet the needs of Wellington’s growing and diverse communities.

It will need to include a land acquisition action plan that will drive investment decisions in the 2024 Long Term Plan, and be guided by the draft parks provisions that have been developed as part of the Open Space and Recreation Strategy.

The Open Space Investment Plan will ensure we have a clear roadmap to guide future planning, prioritisation, and investment required to provide a network of well utilised, accessible, fit-for-purpose Open Spaces that meet Wellington’s growing and diverse communities. It will be the plan that shapes and sets out the direction for where we focus our energies so that our network of Open Spaces meets community need for the next 30 years and makes Wellington a place where people and communities thrive and where people want to live.
The primary focus of this plan will be on social and community open spaces, based on evidence that Wellington has limited social and community open spaces compared to other types of parks. With density set to increase in existing neighbourhoods we need to plan for open space improvement across our network.
