Overview

Wellington City Council (WCC) is seeking information, as market research activity, to understand the breadth of available technology solutions which can gather information on how people move throughout our city using ‘active modes’ (pedestrian, bicycle and micro-mobility options such as scooters, amongst others).

We are interested in understanding what kinds of fixed and mobile solutions are available in the market, and the capabilities that they can deliver.

Information provided to us through this RFI will help inform our future strategy and requirements as well as potentially inform future sourcing activities (if any). Note that this RFI should not be misconstrued as an indication that WCC is committing to conducting any future procurement process.

Note that the privacy of the people in our city is especially important to us. Any solutions are expected to proactively accommodate this and would be subject to a privacy impact assessment. Any data generated by a system would also be subject to the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act and may be required to be shared with internal staff, external partners and the public; so, a key consideration should be around balancing the importance of privacy and the transparency of data that may be collected.
