Overview

The Waikato Regional Council invites tenders for maintenance control of possums in the Nukuhakari – Awakino Sector 1 Priority Possum Control Area (PPCA).

The Nukuhakari-Awakino PPCA is located approximately 40km south-west of Te Kuiti, covers approximately 7,400 hectares of farmland and involves 20 landowners.

The area is characterised by its topography and geographic isolation. It is unique to the region in that it covers a wide range of habitats and supports an unbroken transition of habitats from the coastal fringe to subalpine vegetation (which is uncommon in the King Country) present at higher altitudes. The farmland in the western part of the block has patches of possum habitat in the form of native bush running along the coastline. Coastal cliffs are common with unstable areas and steep gullies running down to the coastline.

Tenderers should visit the operational area to satisfy themselves of the accuracy of any plans, drawings or specifications included in the RFT documents prior to tendering. The onus will be on the tenderer to propose flexible methodologies and operational plans that are acceptable to landowners.

Submission of tenders
All tenders must be submitted in hard copy in duplicate with one copy being unbound. Note: maps and electronic media including CDs may be accepted by Council if they are compatible with Council systems. Tenderers should confirm with the Council Key Contact Person in advance.

Tender proposals must be received on or before 12 noon on or before Wednesday, 12 November 2014 in a sealed envelope to the tender box located in the main entrance foyer of the Council offices:
