The Council entered into a funding agreement with the Ministry for Employment, Business, and Innovation (MBIE) to deliver a suite of projects, including the Lower Waikato Floodgate Project (LW Floodgate project). This project is entering its second year of implementation and has the purpose to upgrade floodgate assets in the lower Waikato catchment, providing ongoing critical flood defences in the area and making them safer to operate in times of flood.

This procurement opportunity relates to implementing part of this project to replace several flood drainage outlets on the Mangawara River as part of the Lower Waikato flood control scheme.

The Council requires construction contractors with the relevant experience, track record and capacity to replace pipes and headwalls to the Council’s requirements by excavation and relaying those pipes at potentially 7 floodgate outlet sites.

This is an opportunity to be involved in upgrading and repairing the critical flood control infrastructure for the Mangawara Flood scheme in the lower Waikato catchment.

The RFQ closes at 4:00pm Friday, 12 December 2025 and must be submitted electronically via GETS.
