Overview

Waikato Regional Council invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake initial control of possums in the newly established Otahu Priority Possum Control Area (PPCA).

The Otahu PPCA is located to the south of Whangamata on the Coromandel Peninsula. The PPCA is bordered by the Firth of Thames to the East and Department of Conservation (DOC) land. DOC are planning carry out an aerial 1080 operation on the public conservation land (PCL) in the coming months.

The Otahu PPCA is largely made up of farmland but includes native bush and planted forests with a combination of rolling hills and flat paddocks and is steep in some areas.

Contractor Pre-approval Requirement
It is important to note that tenders will only be accepted from those contractors who have met in advance of the tender closing date, the Council’s Biosecurity ‘Pre-Approved Contractor’ criteria confirming contractor competency, health and safety processes in place, insurance, staff qualifications and experience.
