Overview

The Waikato Regional Council invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake rat and possum control in the Maungakawa (formerly known as Te Tapui A) ‘Hamilton Halo’ sector, situated 14 kilometres east of Cambridge.

Name change: As a result of recent Treaty Settlements a large portion of the area previously known as “Te Tapui A” has been transferred to the Ngāti Hauā Iwi Trust (the Post Settlement Government Entity). Ngāti Hauā Iwi Trust is now responsible for the management of Maungakawa (Te Tapui A) scenic reserve and the area is to be referred to by its correct name of Maungakawa.

Under ‘Project Halo’ (Halo), sites receive pest control on a ‘three years on - two years off’ basis. There was no successful tender in 2015 so this site has gone 3 years without control, this contract will cover two years of control.

Maungakawa (Te Tapui A)
Covering 990 hectares, the Maungakawa ‘Halo’ sector is due to receive annual control between 1 July and 30 September over the next two financial years (2016/17 and 2017/18).

Tenderers are advised to visit each operational area prior to tendering to satisfy themselves of the accuracy of any plans, drawings or specifications included in the RFT documents.

Contractor Pre-approval Requirement
It is important to note tenders will only be accepted from those contractors who have met in advance of the tender closing date, the Council’s Biosecurity ‘Pre-Approved Contractor’ criteria confirming contractor competency, health and safety processes in place, insurance, staff qualifications and experience. Contractors not yet pre-approved should contact Chris Monk on 0800 800 401 in the first instance to discuss the pre-approval process and information required.

Requests for tender documents or enquiries can be emailed to Dave Byers - dave.byers@waikatoregion.govt.nz
