There is a need to provide fit for purpose and compliant accommodation for all patients at the HRBC. However, the physical bed spaces currently available to house patients on both the adult and forensic sides are inadequate. The objective of this investment is to provide 2 additional bedrooms to accommodate tangata whaiora and thus reduce waiting times for acute prison on the admission waitlist. Rooms not designed for habituation (currently being used during times of overoccupancy) can be used for their intended purpose.
