Backup infrastructure is one of the core services used to protect University data and complies with recording keeping and operational recovery requirements.

In 2017 Digital Solutions purchased and installed the current backup infrastructure. This infrastructure protects corporate & research data, databases and servers hosted in our data centres; infrastructure comprises of, Commvault media agent servers, Commvault disk library, tape library and core network services.

Core parts of the infrastructure (i.e. media agents and tape library) are coming to end of life and need to be replaced by Q3 2023. Furthermore, Digital Solutions would like to free up disk library capacity off our enterprise storage, while also reducing the administration burden on staff.
