The University of Waikato is progressing a closed tender process for the delivery of a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) carpark array at our Hamilton campus.

Following an Invitation to Participate (ITP) and a series of Competitive Dialogue meetings, we are now inviting shortlisted respondents to submit proposals through a closed Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

The University is seeking a capable and experienced partner to design, finance, install, operate, and maintain a ~2MW solar PV carpark array under an off-balance sheet financing model such as a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Energy Services Agreement (ESA), or similar structure.

We are targeting an initial energy price in the range of $0.19–$0.22 per kWh. The successful partner will be responsible for delivering a turnkey solution that ensures reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy generation over the life of the agreement.

The University of Waikato has completed a Competitive Dialogue procurement process for the Solar Carpark Installation project. This process was designed to engage with suppliers collaboratively to refine technical, commercial, and sustainability solutions before final proposals were submitted. Following evaluation against published criteria, Sunergise has been awarded the contract.

The project supports the University’s sustainability objectives by delivering a large-scale solar installation that will reduce carbon emissions, generate renewable energy, and contribute to our long-term environmental strategy. Sunergise demonstrated strong technical capability, innovative design, and alignment with our broader outcomes objectives, including economic and social benefits.
