Overview

In 2022, in support of the Tauranga campus the University is opening a new 91 bed self-catered accommodation facility in Tauranga called the Selwyn Street Studios. The new facility will provide accommodation for Tauranga-based tertiary students.

The Selwyn Street facility has a number of food preparation areas and cooking facilities in a basement kitchen dining area as well as microwaves in a shared kitchenette on each of the four floors of facility. Food storage space is at a premium and residents will not be able to keep large quantities of food, especially if it must be refrigerated or frozen. This may limit (but would not rule out) the opportunities to provide students with recipes and ingredients with which to prepare their own meals.

The University would like to identify a provider who could supply affordable and nutritious meals to students on a frequent e.g. weekly basis. It is envisaged that the provider would have an online ordering system through which students could order and pay for their meals choices and that the meals would be delivered to the Selwyn Street facility. We are looking for forward thinking providers with innovative solutions for supplying this service to students.

It should be noted that residents will have freedom to source and prepare whatever food they choose and the University cannot offer any guarantees on the likely uptake of any meal plans proposed. Residents will be well served by local supermarkets so the provider will need to offer a compelling meal option.

Providers should give details of the likely costs per resident for the meal plans and the likely minimum commitment that would be required of residents in terms of both duration and numbers of meal plans.
