A key strategic objective of the University of Waikato (UoW) is to increase its provision of quality new student accommodation stock and grow the university’s asset value base. The Silverdale Road projects contribute to the delivery of this strategy. Phase 1 represented 53 self-contained units that were completed and handed over in March 2021. The adjacent sites that enable the Phase 2 opportunity is anticipated to deliver 100 plus new beds in a variety of build typologies.
These are UoW owned properties located at 189 to 197 Silverdale Road, Hillcrest, Hamilton. UoW are currently engaged in due diligence and constraint assessment activities for the Phase 2 project. This will lead to site modelling and development.
It is hoped that we can take advantage of the 2021/22 earthworks season to commence the project to progress associated ground works. It is possible that the proposed construction contract could be staged or have separable portions.
