Computer-based examinations (CBE) are already being used at the University of Otago on an ad-hoc basis, both for internal assessments and final examinations, with the majority of the latter being paper-based. Other universities are experimenting with CBE or considering doing so, and NZQA currently has the goal of having senior secondary school students sit all appropriate external assessments via computer by 2020.

We are seeking a CBE solution which could be used for both internal assessments and final examinations at the University of Otago. The Working Group is investigating consolidating our ad-hoc solutions and considering whether a roll-out for CBE across the University should be implemented.
