Overview

This RFI for Taumata Arowai relates to understanding the current and future drinking water end-point treatment provision (also known as Point of Entry treatment) market options in New Zealand. To assist us in the provision of advice, guidance and standards to support safe rural drinking water, this information will also help establish if there are other interventions needed to ensure availability of appropriate kit for safe drinking water in rural areas where centralised treatment is not cost-effective or suitable.

We want to understand:
• what current technology can meet the minimum criteria and therefore can be considered as a current acceptable solution in the future.
• the current and “near” future supply chain and market for Drinking water end-point treatment:
o user equipment,
o equipment installation and
o equipment management.
• the options available for provision in Mixed-Use Rural supplies, private and community supplies and other rural consumers, from here on referred to as ‘rural consumers’.
• can the current/near future technology run off-grid (if the power is out) and for how long.
• what other technology could be considered as a current or future acceptable solution for household and community supplies, that is, what are the current or emerging technologies that you consider we should be thinking about, e.g. Reverse Osmosis or LED UV lights.

We would like to hear from equipment suppliers, installers and maintenance providers.
