The Minister of Finance and Minister for Infrastructure (Joint Ministers) agreed to the Treasury assessing the feasibility of offering a long-term concession to operate New Zealand lotteries.

The Treasury is seeking to engage a highly qualified investment banking or corporate advisory firm to advise on commercial and financial matters relevant to this feasibility assessment.

The Treasury expects to provide a final report back to Joint Ministers in Quarter 2 2026 prior to undertaking any further preparatory work. If the Government decides to proceed with further preparatory work, we will run a new procurement process for advisors for subsequent phases of work.
