On the 9th of December 2024, Cabinet directed KGC (Kiwi Group Capital Limited) and the Treasury to approach suitable New Zealand professional investor groups about a potential investment of up to $500 million in KGC. Investors to be approached include selected New Zealand KiwiSaver funds, New Zealand investment institutions, Māori private capital and New Zealand professional investor groups. The Treasury will provide advice to the Minister of Finance on appropriate next steps and whether to seek Cabinet’s approval in 2025 to progress a formal private placement offer of up to $500 million and proposed transaction terms.
