The NZ Government is establishing a new company to procure two new ferries through a Request For Proposals (RFP) to ensure a safe, reliable and commercially viable Cook Strait ferry service. The ferries are expected to begin operation in 2029 as the existing Interislander ferries reach the end of their operating lives.
In the interim, the NZ Treasury is developing the ships procurement plan including the necessary support from key ships advisors, while the new company is being established.

This Registration of Interest (ROI) seeks information from Ships Interiors Designers with the necessary experience, capabilities and capacity in designing Ro-Pax Ferries.
The Ships Interiors Designers will be required to assist the new company throughout the phases of procurement, design and build of the new ferries.

We do not want proposals or speculative approaches from Ships Interiors Designers that have never been involved in design of SOLAS compliant Ro-Pax ferries.
