COVID-19 resulted in the activation of an All of Government response at national and local level including the activation of National Crisis Management Centre and Regional Coordination Centre facilities, the declaration of a nationwide state of national emergency and a national transition period. During the response Civil Defence Emergency Management provided a wide range of services including coordination, Welfare service delivery and support to managed isolation and quarantine.
NEMA is mid-point in Designing for our Future and it is important that a comprehensive, robust and independent review of NEMA and CDEM Group Coordination activity is conducted to inform future work. The review will also support key workstreams such as the development of the Alternative NCMC as well as specific projects such as COVID-19 Resurgence Planning and re-development of national welfare planning and pandemic guidance documents
