The Opportunity
For the provision of public transport services relating to the bus route operating between Ōpunake and New Plymouth.
Current state
The current contract for the provision of public transport services relation to the bus route operating between Ōpunake and New Plymouth is approaching end of life with an expiry date April 2026.
What we need
We are seeking an experienced, competent public transport operator who will work closely with us to grow patronage and encourage greater use of public transport.
TRC values strong local leadership and innovation, not just passive service delivery, but a proactive partner helping guide the regions toward a more efficient, sustainable and user-friendly public transport service.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
The operator will stay abreast of service updates relating to industry trends, technological advancements, customer service initiatives and operational improvements.
Actively seek regular customer insights and service feedback to make service adjustments.
Collaboration and Strategic Guidance
Be a strategic partner that leads the council toward better decisions for the community
Be ready to lead conversations about future needs relating to service enhancements, operational efficiencies, and user experience, and suggesting the best course of action.
Sustainability
The provider must be committed to working toward minimising their environmental impact and proactively identify opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint of the fleet and operations.
Explore new ideas for integrating public transport with regional sustainability initiatives, such as the promotion of cycling and walking.
What we don’t want
We are not looking for an inflexible supplier who is unwilling or unable to adjust services to meet changing demands. We do not want passive service delivery; we value strong local leadership and innovation. We also don’t want a service that is unsafe or unaffordable.
