Overview

Transpower New Zealand Ltd is seeking to engage a high performing Supplier with an experienced, quality focused team to develop a new standard 220kV single circuit self-supporting lattice steel tower family consisting of 4-6 different tower types for use on Transpower’s network on all future 220kV single circuit refurbishment and upgrade projects.

From investigation work carried out to date by Transpower, there is a potential requirement for approximately 22–33 towers in the next 5 to 10 years in order to implement planned projects. As Transpower continues to investigate projects into refurbishing and upgrading its network, and refining the design of its proposed projects, this requirement may change.

In order to ensure the successful and economic development of the tower family, the Supplier being sought will need to take ownership from design through to supply. In some cases in order to achieve this it may mean that joint ventures between Suppliers are required.

Pending the outcome of this RFI, the intention is that the design and detailing would be undertaken and completed within the 2014/2015 financial year as the first phase of the works. Subsequently when the first Capital project arises with a need for towers, the trial assembly and testing would be undertaken as part of the supply.
