Vector require an installation of a second supply transformer (220/33 kV) as the peak demand from Wairau Road 33 kV bus is approaching the rating of the existing Transpower (220/ 33 kV) T7 transformer. Three Vector (110/ 33 kV) transformers are also approaching end of life
however, they are not projected to reach end of life at the same time, therefore they will be removed sequentially.
To retain security of supply WRD T9 220/33 kV supply transformer needs to be in place and commissioned before the Vector transformers can be decommissioned in a staged manner.

This procurement will enable Transpower to meet its goal of commissioning the new T9 Transformer
