Overview

Transpower is a state-owned enterprise at the centre of New Zealand’s electricity industry. We are responsible for ensuring the secure and reliable transmission and delivery of electrical energy from generating sites, such as hydro-dams, wind farms and geothermal sites to distribution companies and large direct supply companies. Transpower also operates the power system and electricity market. For further information, see http://www.transpower.co.nz
We are working to facilitate a low-carbon future for Aotearoa, while providing services in an environmentally sustainable manner. We take care of the grid for New Zealand now and for the future — what we do today, and the decisions we make, will have an impact for generations to come.
Transpower is working on waste reduction across our operations. We endeavour to reduce waste through design choices. For example working with our suppliers to reduce packing materials or switching to use recyclable materials.
However, there is currently still a requirement to remove and recycle, or dispose of waste.
This document is a means of building on our knowledge of recycling and disposal solutions, and future challenges to be expected, so we can be better informed of the options and approaches available.
The information obtained through this Request for Information (RFI) will feed into our strategy for the sustainable management of waste. The end result may be the formation of panels of suppliers or recommendation of the managing of specific waste streams.
This RFI is an information gathering exercise only and is not part of a formal tender or procurement process. Nothing in this document or the information received from Respondents will form a commitment around any future formal procurement activity.
