This request is issued by Transpower New Zealand Limited (Transpower). Transpower's aim in this process is to seek and obtain submissions from organisations who are interested in the provision of reactive power control equipment in the Waikato and Upper North Island regions using an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) delivery model (the Contract).

The Waikato and Upper North Island voltage management (WUNIVM) investigation has identified the need for both under and over-voltage support.

In March 2018, Transpower issued an RFI on the proposal to install series capacitors on the BHL-WKM circuits. These series capacitors are expected to provide an increase in the static and dynamic voltage stability limits.
