The Timaru District Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced lead architect for the proposed upgrade of the Theatre Royal and Heritage Facility Development (to provide exhibition space for the South Canterbury Museum and touring exhibitions).
This Registration of Interest (ROI) is in relation to the provision of architectural / lead designer services only. The architect will be responsible for leading and co-ordinating the design and the design team. We have not yet determined our requirements or confirmed our procurement approach in relation to other key consultancy services and suppliers (e.g. structural engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, fire engineering, resource consent planning, QS/cost management, theatre technical systems, acoustics engineering and specialist lighting) which will be subject of subsequent notice(s) of procurement.
In responding to this ROI the architect is encouraged to make recommendations as to how this can be most efficiently achieved (e.g. the Timaru District Council is open to a design team structure whereby all design team consultants are engaged by the architect)
Given the need for close co-ordination of all design elements, appointment of an architectural team comprising more than one provider will be well received (e.g. joint proposals/consortium bids/subcontracting arrangements).
