Overview

The purpose of this Advance Notice is to inform suppliers of upcoming / release of Tauranga City Council’s Pest Animal Control contracts.

This is a single step Request for Proposal process. Final interviews will be held for the highest scorers’ bids, from which our final evaluations will be made.
The existing contract will now be split into three (3) separate contracts:
• TC514/24 – Pest Animal Control
• TC93/25 – Pest Animal Monitoring
• TC13/25 – Pest Animal Shooting Specialist

NOTE: We are ideally looking for separate suppliers for TC93/25 – Pest Animal Monitoring and TC514/25 – Pest Animal Control, however if you can demonstrate your impartiality between monitoring and control, we may award these two contracts to one supplier. You are also able to apply for TC13/25 – Pest Animal Shooting Specialist contract in conjunction with either of the other contracts.

TC514/25 – Pest Animal Control contract
We are seeking a supplier who has the capability, capacity and experience operating large, efficient pest animal control network in the natural environment within an urban setting on a citywide scale.

The scope of the operations includes the day-to-day maintenance and servicing of the permanent device network, rabbit burrow fumigation, Canadian Geese egg addling and wasp control. It is mandatory that the successful supplier will have a tertiary qualification in Ecology or Environmental Science within their organisation and / or a minimum of 5 years industry experience; it is also mandatory that, while on site performing control operations, at least one person must hold a NZ Cert level 1 in Pest Animal Management or 2 years equivalent industry experience.

You must have, or have by the start of the contract, yard space within TCC boundaries or no further than 10km from the boundary. The yard must have capacity to store up to 1000 devices, chemicals, toxins, lure, frozen meat (large chest freezer). This is a mandatory requirement.

Indicative timeframes:
Request for Proposal anticipated to be released at the end of June 2025
Project Commencement (indicative): 1st of November 2025
Project Completion: Each will have a 3-year contract with the possibility of 2 years extension (12 months each)
