Overview

The South Taranaki District Council (STDC) proposes to renew an existing section of wastewater pipeline located in Tayler Street, Eltham. The pipeline has been identified for renewal following CCTV inspection and condition assessment, which confirmed that the asset is in poor structural condition with multiple cracks and dips. Due to the extent of deterioration, the pipeline is not suitable for relining and requires full replacement. The replacement pipeline is proposed to be installed at the same alignment and grade as the existing infrastructure to maintain hydraulic performance and continuity of service. Given the age and condition of the asset, the recommended construction methodology is open trench excavation. Ground conditions are currently unknown and will be managed during construction.
The section in Tayler Street, Eltham is proposed for renewal of the existing wastewater pipeline:
• Between ELWWMH00715 and ELWWMH00720, renewal of approximately 113 m of Ø150 mm wastewater pipeline, replacing the existing Ø150 mm earthen clay pipe with SN16 DN150 uPVC. A new 1050 mm diameter manhole will be constructed to replace the existing lamphole. The new manhole will be installed approximately 80 m downstream of existing manhole ELWWMH00715, as the existing lamphole is approximately 112 m from ELWWMH00715 and does not comply with current spacing standards.
