Overview

The South Taranaki District Council (STDC) proposes to renew the existing Ø40 mm galvanised iron (GI) water supply main along Manu Road in Okaiawa, which has reached the end of its service life. Investigations have confirmed that the existing tobies servicing properties at the corner of Manu Road and Ngutu Road are located within private property boundaries, with the current water main running between dwellings. To meet current standards and improve long-term reliability, these service connections are to be relocated to the road reserve boundary, with new customer-side service lines installed.

The project scope includes the installation of a new DN63 HDPE (PE100 SDR11 PN16) pipeline along Manu Road to replace the existing GI line, as well as a new DN63 HDPE (PE100 SDR11 PN16) pipeline along Ngutu Road, terminating with a new hydrant for flushing and operational maintenance use only. Works include installing new tobies at property boundaries, establishing new service lines to each dwelling, locating and disconnecting existing internal tobies/manifolds, and reconnecting them to the new system. Construction may involve open-trench installation or horizontal directional drilling (HDD), where suitable, to minimise disturbance near structures, or other sensitive areas. All works will be completed with full reinstatement, pressure testing, disinfection, commissioning, and the provision of as-built documentation to support asset management and future maintenance.
