Overview

The Ø50mm Galvanised Iron (GI) rider main along Reid Avenue was installed in 1960 and has now reached the end of its serviceable life. The condition of the pipe is very poor with requirement of frequent repairs due to burst and leaks. This project involves replacement of approximately 620 meters of the existing Ø50mm galvanised iron rider main with 63 OD PE along Reid Avenue.

The works involve the renewal and upgrade of the water reticulation system (Rider-main) along Reid Avenue, Hawera, covering approximately 620 metres of DN63 pipeline. The contractor shall supply all materials, plant, labour, and supervision required to complete the installation using open trench or under-boring methods, including associated fittings, valves, elbows, and service connections. The scope includes site establishment, traffic management, potholing and protection of existing services, trench excavation or under-boring, pipe laying, embedment, backfilling, and reinstatement of road surfaces, footpaths, and grass berms. Additional tasks include pressure testing, disinfection, commissioning, and preparation of as-built documentation and asset data. The contractor must also manage health and safety, environmental compliance, and stakeholder communication throughout the project, ensuring completion within the specified contract period and to the standards outlined in NZS3910:2013 and STDC requirements.
