This Registration of Interest (ROI) is for the provision of construction and fit out services
associated with Scion’s Hub Development. Scion Research is a Crown Research Institute located
on their Campus at 49 Sala Street, Rotorua.
The Scion Innovation Hub is a world leading timber structural building. The building is an integral
part of the Scion campus redevelopment; beyond this it is intended to act as a showcase of timber
use within the design and construction industries in NZ.
The Hub consists of approx. 1835m2 GFA of new build. The Building will connect with existing
Blocks L, H & E and include the alteration and refurbishment of O Block (Holodeck area) of approx.
255m2 (Total GFA approx. 2090m2)
The work includes mix of triple height atrium space and three storey open plan workspace, entry
foyer, break out and meeting spaces, tea points, toilets, café and commercial kitchen, visitor
experience/display areas. The Hub is to be a signature timber engineered building on the site to
showcase timber technology and act as the public face of Scion. The building is being designed
using sustainable principles.
