We require services including web-scraping, cleaning, and classifying online data over the next four years to continue the work underway to sustainably transform the Stats collection model for price statistics. These services are a critical component of a digitally sourced, lower cost future for price index statistics, and more broadly of moving Stats towards the digital collection of data and reducing respondent burden.

The key objectives of this procurement are:
• coded price data (COICOP classification)
• in a downloadable format that meets requirements
• at a frequency available to Stats daily and weekly
• for Stats NZ to successfully download the data file, and
• for Stats NZ to successfully upload the data file into Stats systems,

The procurement outcome is to identify an integrated service to provide Stats with data from consumer websites to be used in CPI calculations.

Timeframes are currently expected to be:
• RFP released on GETS 24 February 2022
• Deadline for Questions from Respondents 7 March 2022
• Deadline for the Buyer to answer Respondents’ questions 14 March 2022
• Deadline for Respondents to provide Notice of Intent to Respond 16 March 2022
• Deadline for Proposals Wednesday, 30 March 2022
• Selection confirmed 5 May 2022
