Southland District Council is seeking proposals from shortlisted Suppliers to design, construct and install a replacement for the Colac Bay surfer statue which remains faithful to the original iconic design of a surfer riding a wave.
This Request for Proposals (RFP) builds on the Stage 1 Registration of Interest (ROI) and the concept designs provided by your organisation during this stage for which you were shortlisted. Respondents are requested to further develop their high-level concepts and provide more in-depth and specific detail as requested in the RFP Response.
The outcomes we want to achieve are the successful installation of a replacement statue which remains aligned with the original design of a surfer riding a wave, is of a similar size and scale to the original statue, is constructed using durable material with minimal ongoing maintenance requirements in coastal environments and which enables safe public interaction.
********Suppliers are requested to refer to the updated specific guidance relating to the design which can be found in Section 2.2 of the RFP document: Design requirements.*********
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high profile, community driven project that celebrates Colac Bay’s surf culture and heritage. The new statue will be a long-lasting legacy, supported by the CBPL.
We are looking for visionary Suppliers who want to be part of something truly special. This is more than a commission; it’s a chance to help shape a landmark that will inspire pride, connection, and storytelling for generations to come.
**As per the RFP, a supplier briefing will be held on Wednesday 25th February at 11am. This will be held on Teams, a link to join the Briefing will be sent via email**
