Overview

This Request for Quotes Lite (RFQ - L) is an invitation to submit a Quote for the delivery of alterations to the Colac Bay hall as listed below, we are seeking Quotes that offer the best value.
Scope of works required:

Priority items:

1. Upgrade of ramp at the main entrance to the hall, currently it is not accessibility friendly and will need to be reoriented so that wheelchairs and caskets have access through the main doors. A small concrete path will also need to be installed to connect the ramp to the road. Currently it has a large drop from the ramp to the grass which makes it unsafe for wheelchair use. Both ramps are to include new handrails, ramps and handrails are to meet NZS 4121:2001 Design for access and mobility – buildings and associated facilities.

2. Upgrade the existing ramp to the rear of the building (northern fire door), the ramp is currently double the allowed accessible gradient of 1:12 for the ramp and has a significant drop onto uneven surfaces and a small slope. As the ramp doesn’t meet accessible standards it needs to be redone at the right grade to ensure that it is accessible. Currently the ramp is 650mm (65cm) high when it meets the door which at a grade of 1:12 would make the ramp approximately 8.3 meters long. The ramp will exit north for half of the distance, have a 2.4m2 turning area (this is the minimum requirement for ramps under accessibility standards for turning zones for wheelchairs) and then continue the ramp to the east for the remainder of the distance.

3. The southeast entrance will need to have the single internal door changed to a double internal door to fit wheelchairs and caskets coming in through that entrance which has been proposed to be done internally via Council’s maintenance team.\

Provisional Item(s):

1. The existing crash bars on all three of the emergency exits need to be replaced as it has been noted in fire drills that people have struggled to operate the existing crash bars.

The services must be delivered by 30 June 2026.
