The Crisis Support service in Queenstown Central Lakes is a new initiative. We want to have a crisis support service that includes a home-based and residential option for people who are experiencing a period of acute distress, use of online tools to provide support into the home, and provide support and education for whanau and carers. It is anticipated this will enable some people to avoid admission to acute inpatient mental health services. This service will work closely with Specialist Mental Health Teams, locally based community agencies and primary care. The aim of the service is to provide more support options closer to where people live, assist with resolution of the crisis, and provide support for carers and whanau.
