Overview

Erewhon Rural Water Scheme is a Rangitikei District Council (RDC) owned water network supplying water to 28 farm properties in a remote rural area east of Taihape. The water scheme was constructed in the 1980s and is a critical component in provision of on-farm water to connected rural customers. The scheme operates under gravity, and the pipe network has elevation variances from >1,100m above sea level (asl) to ~600m asl or lower, traversing pastoral farmland and some bush areas. Much of the pipework is nearing its service life with sections in need of replacement; up to 6.7km in total. Much of the new pipework is to be installed in sections on new alignments to avoid disruption to the existing pipes, and to facilitate ease of construction. The works will include the tie-ins at the ends of each replaced section of pipework.

Rangitikei District Council (RDC) seeks interest from contractors and suppliers in undertaking this pipe replacement work, including all supply and preliminaries, construction works to an agreed programme, livening the replaced sections successfully, and capturing and providing as-built information for the new sections.
