Regular use of forklifts is an integral element of daily operations at Port Otago (the Company). Currently, the Company operate 34 forklifts across a number of business sites, performing work varying in nature from terminal operations to warehousing, and in a range of different environments including cool stores, warehouses and the port terminal.
The Company is in the process of conducting a full review of its existing forklift fleet, along with its current asset management and replacement strategy. The company wants a detailed understanding of what new technologies are available in the forklift market, as well as knowing what the best options are for ownership, maintenance and replacements in the future. As a result of this, the Company will formulate a current and relevant long term Forklift Asset Management Strategy to adhere to, and review on an annual basis, going forward. This will trigger the requirement to re-align the existing forklift fleet through replacements, either in bulk or as a roll out, to meet the future vision.
