Port Nelson Limited (PNL) is embarking on an exciting "greenfield" project named the Science and Technology Hub on Port Nelson property. The project is the design and construction of office space with potential supporting cafes and eateries. At present the intention is to construct approximately 10,000m2 of floor space which is likely to be constructed in a number of buildings and stages.
PNL is seeking Registrations of Interest from suitably qualified Architectural Practices to be part of this project. This ROI is to shortlist three architects who will then be asked to prepare and present to PNL and its development team, proposals of an overall masterplan for the site and concept design of the first 5,000m2 of building(s). The successful designer will then be engaged to design the first stage of the project through all design stages. Future stages are likely to be by mutual negotiation in due course.
To assist PNL, who are the development managers of this development, PNL is seeking a motivated and flexible Architectural Designer who is able to develop the project from initial concept through to practical completion.
The first stage is likely to commence in September 2021 through to practical completion in April 2024, with the future stages likely to commence design in mid 2023.
We welcome proposals from suitably qualified and experienced Architectural Designers who can assist PNL in delivering the first stage of this project.

I refer to your architectural submission that was submitted for the Port Nelson Development project.
I apologise it has taken some time to come to you. All best intentions were derailed slightly from a Port Operational aspect, and then COVID came along.
We have shortlisted three architectural practices, and unfortunately, I need to advise that your submission was not one of the three. The three chosen practices were
• Arthouse/ Sheppard & Rut
• Jerram Tocker Barron/ Studio Pacific
• Irving Smith/ RTA Studio
When we reviewed the proposals, to which five of the seven proposals all rated very highly. The point of difference to the above practices being the preferred was their strong local presence as part of their joint venture. Previous experience and projects all rated very highly amongst the top five, it was just the local presence that tipped the scales in favour of the above three.
Well it will be disappointing for you to read the above, there are further opportunities at Port Nelson that are programmed in the future. If you wish, I would be more than happy to engage with you at the appropriate time to gauge your interest in those projects.
