Background
Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) owns and operates the Totara Road Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), which provides an essential service to the Palmerston North city.
PNCC has identified a need to undertake seismic strengthening works to improve the resilience and seismic strength of the main building within the WWTP. The works will be undertaken within a live operational environment, requiring careful planning, coordination and management to minimise disruption to ongoing plant operations.
What do we want?
PNCC is seeking an experienced and capable contractor to deliver the required seismic strengthening works safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Key outcomes sought include:
• A safe, practical solution that meets the specified design and technical requirements;
• Effective planning and staging of the works to maintain continuity of wastewater treatment operations and protecting critical assets;
• Proactive management of health and safety, environmental, construction and operational risks;
• Close coordination and collaboration with PNCC, plant operators, consultants and other relevant stakeholders;
• High-quality workmanship and appropriate quality assurance throughout construction;
• Effective management of programme, cost and project risks;
• Minimal disruption to existing plant infrastructure and operations; and
• Successful completion and handover of the works, including all required testing, documentation, warranties and as-built information.
PNCC is looking for a contractor who understands the complexities of delivering construction works within a critical and continuously operating infrastructure environment and can work collaboratively with Council to achieve a safe, resilient and value-for-money outcome.
