Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) aims to be the most convenient place to ride a bike in New Zealand. Council would like to improve cycling facilities along the entire length of College Street through the provision of indented parking and bus bays, a new reseal, and improved road markings which accommodate buffered cycle lanes on to the street.
Council wish to procure for the creation 13 bus bays along College Street. Ten (10) of these bus bays will be situated within the Maxwell’s Line to Botanical Road section, with the balance to be located between the section of Batt Street to Victoria Avenue. Bus bays are necessary for the project as they will allow buses to stop in a facility that does not encroach on-road cycle lanes. Council expect bus bays will be constructed within the grass berm, and in some locations, may encroach in to the footpath area.
The scope of works will include:
-Site management
-Concrete works incl. kerb & channel, dish channel, footpath reinstatement
-Preparation of base and application of AC
