Overview

The PCO has, over the last two years, completed an end-to-end technology refresh which has modernised our environment alongside an increased focus of security and stability. This change has resulted in the replacement of our Corporate IS environment to an evergreen M365 and Intune based environment, as well as implementing current technology.

The PCO is now in the process of transferring from the programme which has delivered this change to a BAU model which maintains the enhancements implemented. To support this the PCO has decided to implement an operating model made up of internal staff and third-party expert resources, this will provide PCO with appropriate access to specialised skills, a continued focus on security and assurance, and leveraging experience of the use of evergreen technology at other agencies / corporates.

Consequently, the PCO intends to approach the market with TWO (2) Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for two types of Managed Services for its Corporate IT functions:
1. Azure Technology Domain Managed Services; and
2. Network Technical Domain Managed Services.
Suppliers may choose to respond to one or both of the required Managed Services RFPs.

The proposed outcomes of this procurement exercise are:
• The provision to PCO of support specialist(s) with current skills and demonstrated commitment to keeping abreast of the continually changing technology
• Improved Assurance & Security with the provider having the ability to respond appropriately as situations arise along with having an understanding of how to apply Government NZ Information Security Manual (NZISM) controls and Protective Security Requirements (PSR)
• Support Continuous improvement and ensuring the newly implemented environment remains leveraged and does not get degraded
• Enable future-proofing of PCO’s evolving needs, including scaling to meet additional requirements should they arise
• Support should be delivery-focused and cohesive in terms of collaborating across PCO’s IT landscape, both with other 3rd party suppliers and internal staff.

Indicatively, we are planning to release the RFP in mid to late - April 2024 and we intend to hold a briefing for interested parties shortly thereafter.
